Album Review: LIGHTS.

After winning the Critics Choice Award at the BRITS last year
(Adele, Mika, and Jessie J were also recipients over the years,)
and building up her fanbase across Europe and Canada with the
release of her debut album, Lights, in 2010,
British electropop mastermind Ellie Goulding is ready
to take over America with a new album cover and tracklist for Lights.
Even though I've ranted and raved about her for many months,
it's about time she's tried to impact the States.
See the review for the US version of Lights below!
It's the perfect beginning of a masterpiece.
Ellie's vocals soar over a thumping bass-driven production
and it's just great.
"Guns And Horses"- A
Another excellent track from the album;
the track begins with a simple beat, but by the chorus,
you are overjoyed with its greatness.
One of the best songs from the album. Hands down.
This song has been an anthem for me since I first listened to it.
This song is Goulding's highest-charting single in Europe, too!
"This Love (Will Be Your Downfall)"- A
This song kills me everytime I spin it.
Am I being too biased? Maybe.
One year later, I'm still speechless.
Downright PURRFECT.
"The Writer"- A-
Even though it's not the best from the album,
that definitely doesn't make it bad. In fact, it's magical!
"Animal"- B+
This song was on the re-release of Lights in the UK,
and I'm so glad Goulding has shared this with the States.
"Everytime You Go"- A+
Yet another flawless track. I can't explain anymore without
tearing up a little bit.
"Your Biggest Mistake"- A-
Whoever produced Lights needs to produce
my debut album, pronto. This is fierce.
"Salt Skin"- B+
The production is utterly ridiculous.
The vocals are, as always, magical.
"Your Song"- B
Even though it's an Elton John cover,
and it doesn't pack the punch that the other tracks do,
it will make you wanna repeat the whole damn album all over again.
OVERALL GRADE: A+
Only dumbasses won't buy this.
