two years ago on her first album, 19, everyone has been
wondering when she'll drop new material.
Her sophomore album, 21, was released across Europe and Asia last month,
but has finally graces the States with the album three days ago.
I got the opportunity to review the album last night,
and here are my thoughts, track by track.
"Rolling in the Deep"- the chorus is divalicious,
and it keeps growing on me after every listen.
right now, however, i'll give it a B+.
"Rumour Has It"- now this is what I am talking about!
catchiest song on the album, and also the best. A
"Turning Tables"- the piano is the only highlight of this track.
just kidding. Her vocals sound great, too. B-
"Don't You Remember"- even though it's not the best,
it hits a soft spot in my heart. B
"Set Fire To The Rain"- It's different, and I don't know
why I like it, but I do. A lot. A lot a lot. A-
"He Won't Go"- NO! It was going so well.
I like when artist expand their genre,
but this isn't cute, so I'm giving it a C-.
"Take It All"- not bad. not bad at all. B-
"I'll Be Waiting"- Eh. C
"One and Only"- Mediocre.
So mediocre, I might not remember what it's called in a week. C+
"LoveSong"- I wasn't expecting a trip to a lounge
where they say poetry and play jazz music. C
"Someone Like You"- Finally, a song that is
worthy of another listen. What a great ballad. B
"I Found A Boy" (bonus track)- CUTE. B-
While copies of this album are flying off the shelves
and downloading onto iPods
(the first-week sales of 21 are estimated to be around 300k!),
I have decided to let the album sink in my before
I purchase it; As of this moment, however,
I'll give the overall album a solid B.
